The Zhin Tu Series explores the possibilities of chance operation. Allowing process to create the work resulted in a remarkably focused series that invokes one clear and concise subject: the natural world.

The Element Series is a symbolic mapping that takes inspiration from cosmology, genealogy and abstract Buddhist/Tantric forms.

OBSERVATIONS began as a series of life drawing exercises focused on fundamental artistic acts but evolved into a vehicle for an extended meditation on artistic practice.

Presented as a formal boxed edition, the series pays homage to the historic traditions of printmaking.

The Cycles Series parallels a botanical life cycle with the steps of the Buddhist path to enlightenment. The imagery traces the cycles from potential to emergence, growth, bloom, demise and release back to potential.

Inspired by an extended stay and travel throughout India, these works begin to explore the indelible impressions made by the people, the culture and the landscape. The sensory overload ignited profound creativity. The ideas and inspirations generated during this period laid the foundation from which nearly of all my current endeavors stem.

Exploring Europe and studying printmaking in the United Kingdom were profound life and educational experiences. Living, working and travelling within societies steeped in history and culture added a richness to my education that could not have been gained from academic rigor alone.

Drawings from life have been an essential component of my education and studio practice as an artist. Ranging from quick observational sketches to fully realized drawings these works record my interests, influences, development and travel over the years.

Arranged in a loose chronological order, the drawings span from 1992 to early 2000.
